Who says to the deep, ‘Be dry! And I will dry up your rivers’; Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd, And he shall perform all My pleasure. Thus says the LORD to His anointed, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held . . . To open before him the double doors, So that the gates will not be shut. Isaiah 44:27-28a, 45:1
At the end of the seventy-year period of the Jews in Babylonian captivity, the kingdom of Babylon was defeated in a single night without resistance following a rowdy drinking party. The Medes and the Persians entered the walled city by going underneath the wall through open double doors and unlatched gates. This entrance was afforded by the action, upstream, of diverting the river Euphrates upon which the city was built, per orders of the Persian King Cyrus, portrayed in prophecy as a “type” of Christ.
That very night Belshazzar, king of the Chaldeans, was slain. And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old. Daniel 5:30-31
At the end of time, BABYLON THE GREAT will also be defeated in very short order. She is a conglomerate of the mother church and her harlot daughters (Revelation 17:5) who, under the deceptive leadership of the dragon, have exerted power over the nations.
But he shall be broken without human means. Daniel 8:25b
These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful. Then [the angel] said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.” Revelation 17:14-15
Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. Revelation 18:4
Many of God’s people will answer the call to come out of Babylon, and thus her river of support will have been diverted and dried up!
Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. Revelation 16:12
A drought is against [Babylon’s] waters, and they will be dried up. For it is the land of carved images, And they are insane with their idols. Jeremiah 50:38
