September 9: LIGHT
See it:
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)
Obey it:
There are four ways our good works glorify our Father in heaven, according to the text:
1. Our good works can be like a beacon light at an airport that gives direction to planes for safe landings. Our words, actions, and attitude can reveal our Father in heaven and glorify Him.
2. Our good works can be like a light illuminating this dark world. Our words, actions, and attitude can light this dark world and show what is right and wrong, thus glorifying our Father in heaven.
3. Our good works can be like the safety lights installed in areas of criminal activity. Our generosity can reveal greed; our love can reveal hate and prejudices; our kindness can reveal rudeness; our faith in God can reveal disparity and lack of trust; our assurance of salvation reveals fear of the future; our hope reveals hopelessness; our faith in the living Jesus reveals the dead hope of those whose leaders are dead. We could go on and on as we live our faith today to glorify our heavenly Father and make our world a safer and better place.
4. Our good works reveal Jesus, the Light of the world. A Christian is Christ-like. By our words, actions, and attitude we reveal Jesus and glorify the heavenly Father.

My prayer today is for people looking for light:
· that God will use me to share His light in practical, tangible ways
· that people who want the light will find it through my love
