March 11: PRECIOUS WARNINGS
Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me: When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. Ezekiel 3:17-18
Clearly there are the wicked (those who know better) among the people who profess allegiance to the LORD. But He still desires to save them. It seems that the majority of those in rebellion choose to puff up and take offence by a warning from [God] rather than to look in the mirror and realize the need for change. Fortunately, there are still those who will take such a warning seriously, and in humble gratitude turn and submit their ways to the God of love.
In 1939, Albert Einstein collaborated with other physicists in writing a letter to FDR, warning him of the development of uranium-based weapons in Nazi Germany. President Roosevelt took the warning seriously and began the Manhattan Project which brought about the first nuclear weapons. Later, that warning letter sold at auction for over $2 million.
The precious warnings of God’s word are of infinitely greater value! Not only is there the Spirit’s power to show us where correction is needed, but there is also the power of Jesus to work within the humble heart for transformation while guarding that heart from the vain philosophies offered by the world, including its endless list of excuses for continuing in worldly ways. Divine power, in oneness with a human will who desires to live for God, accomplishes victory over sin. With God, the impossible is indeed possible!
Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. v.19
Bringing the Good News and the accompanying warnings regarding the limited opportunity we have to choose rightly, calls the true followers of Jesus to s-t-r-e-t-c-h out of their “comfort zones.” This is an essential part of walking with Him toward everlasting life.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. Mark 8:35
