The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29
It is a great blessing of mercy that the LORD our God has perfectly measured out the information given us in His glorious Word. He has shown to us enough of Himself to give us a clear understanding of all that is necessary to make – for ourselves – the wise decision to allow Him into our lives. This is a pillar of the Christian faith. Our gracious God invites everyone …
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
He comes near and awaits admittance …
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20
He wants to lavish upon us precious, priceless gifts …
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:5 (see also Matthew 7:7)
The true God has revealed Himself to us in manifold ways … in nature …
The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The judgements of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea than much fine gold; Moreover by them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:1,2,7,9b,10a,11
… in the written word …
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
… in JESUS!
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, who He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds… Hebrews 1:1-2
Yes, the things revealed belong to us and to our children! But for what purpose? So that we will know what to do, if we choose to serve Him: that we may do all the words of this law (God’s law). Beloved of the Lord, know that the Lawgiver grants the power to obey His precepts to any who ask. If I love Him, it will be my heart’s desire to honor His commands.
Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
