You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. Psalm 119:98
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge. Proverbs 19:27 (KJV)
Stop listening to teaching that contradicts what you know is right. Many doctrines swirling about have a form of godliness (2 Timothy 3:5) and may sound wise, but, beloved, you want to be wise unto salvation! As you spend time daily with your Commander in Chief by the study of His Word and in prayer, lay open your heart to Him. This means being willing to relinquish concepts from the spirit of the world that presents contradictions to God’s divine instructions and more contradictions regarding His character. Every erroneous idea relinquished opens wider the way for truth, freely given!
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 1 Corinthians 2:12
What things? To begin, the Source of life has freely given us life. He does not want us to die! The elements of His government, issued straight from the command center of the universe are set before us so that we might continue to live. If we are to become citizens under His divine rule for eternity (it is a choice for each of us to make), then we must allow His Word to take hold of us even as we take hold of it. Recognize that every precious, life-saving teaching from the Lord will meet with a push-back from the deceiver. Test the spirits (1 John 4).
“Scripture must be its own expositor, since it is a rule of itself. If I depend on a teacher to expound it to me, and he should guess at its meaning, or desire to have it so on account of his sectarian creed, or to be thought wise, then his guessing, desire, creed, or wisdom is my rule, not the Bible.” William Miller
But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:14-15
