Who says to the deep, ‘Be dry! And I will dry up your rivers’; Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd, And he shall perform all My pleasure. Thus says the LORD to His anointed, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held . . . To open before him the double doors, So that the gates will not be shut. Isaiah 44:27-28a, 45:1
The Jews in Babylonian captivity were suddenly freed after 70 years! Babylon was defeated in a single night without resistance, for they were having a rowdy drinking party. The Medes and the Persians entered the city by going underneath the section of the immense walls that spanned the River Euphrates, through open double doors and gates left unlatched. This entrance was afforded by the action, upstream, of diverting the river upon which the city was built, per orders of the Persian King Cyrus, a prophetic type of Christ.
That very night Belshazzar, king of the Chaldeans, was slain. And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old. Daniel 5:30-31
This event is a prophetic microcosm of what is soon to come. The handwriting is on the wall! In like manner, BABYLON THE GREAT will also be rapidly defeated. A conglomerate of the mother church and her harlot daughters (Revelation 17:5), she is under the deceptive leadership of the dragon (see Isaiah 47:8-9). The “ecumenical movement” is currently gaining power over the nations.
But he shall be broken without human means. Daniel 8:25b
These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful. Then [the angel] said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.” Revelation 17:14-15
Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. Revelation 18:4
Many of God’s people will answer the call to come out of Babylon before the fall of the final seven plagues. But the majority will refuse. As the plagues are falling, they will realize too late that Babylon cannot deliver what she had promised. No peace. No protection. No safety. They will turn on her, i.e. hate the harlot (Revelation 17:16), and thus her river of support will dry up.
Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. Revelation 16:12
A drought is against [Babylon’s] waters, and they will be dried up. For it is the land of carved images, And they are insane with their idols. Jeremiah 50:38
