“Woe to the rebellious children,” says the LORD, “Who take counsel, but not of Me. And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin.” Isaiah 30:1

There is a great irony that reveals just how seriously the devil’s counsel and plans have permeated society. Every conceivable form of entertainment is widely available, and while we have come to believe that these developments bring happiness, there is a direct parallel between the growing forms and availability of entertainment and the rise in acute anxiety disorders, severe depression, and suicide. Social media, while promoted under the heading of “good communication”, actually results in causing people to become increasingly antisocial. Actual communication skills are shriveling or reduced to shreds, while research shows that children are stunted in their development of social skills, preferring video games to real interaction with those around them. The information on social media is most often highly selective and meant to create an inaccurate view, or even an altogether false impression. This is the devil’s way of feeding covetousness and promoting comparing…

But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10:12

As professed followers of Jesus, we must learn to filter what is happening around us through the lens of God’s word. Many forms of entertainment that are widely accepted among church-goers could be readily identified as not of [God’s] Spirit, yet they are no longer even questioned. The floodgates of woe have been thrown wide open, and not by the devil but by those professed Christians who welcome the counsels, devices, and brain-altering plans of that great deceiver.

Beloved, invite the Holy Spirit in daily and walk with Him. Essential protection for your mind, your eternal future, and your positive influence upon others, especially those you love, depends upon it!

Open the gates, That the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in. You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:2-3
