January 12: EXPOSING ERROR
In the house of the righteous there is much treasure, but in the revenue of the wicked is trouble. Proverbs 15:6
As the Reformation marches on, more & more people are hearing the gospel message in its fullness. Unprecedented access to the Bible is another counterbalance to the unprecedented apostasy of these last days. Praise God for faithful pastors who study the whole of God’s word and present the everlasting gospel (Revelation 14:6). There are still hearers who will check out for themselves the rightful claims of the Creator upon their lives.
[The Bereans] were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. Acts 17:11
Long before the advantages of modern technology, Paul became a powerful instrument of righteousness, speaking and writing in holistic detail the saving message of God’s incredible grace in buying us back from the wicked one and leading us to safety. Paul addresses shepherds who accept responsibility of sharing God’s message among His flock:
For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. Acts 20:28
Godly leadership is essential in the life of the church. This is by divine design, for we are social beings. There is no substitute for warm fellowship within the community of faith. History is replete with details of individuals who chose to love and obey the Lord, whose obedience elevated them to positions of leadership that have ushered blessings into the lives of countless people since—far beyond the imaginations of Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, David, Ezekiel, Daniel, John the Baptist, the Apostles, and all true prophets! Only the Lord Himself could see clearly down the corridor of time…
Today there are still church leaders motivated by love towards God and deep affection for His faithful shepherds of the past who spoke boldly against “conventional wisdom” in order to align with divine instructions. Clearly God’s Spirit strengthened and guided them to share God’s love with their fellow man. Everyone is given free choice for themselves, but the influence of godly leadership is priceless beyond measure. In these last days, our enemy knows his time is short (Revelation 12:12). Therefore, he is frenetically at work to mislead and deceive as many as will hear his counterfeit messages without checking them against Scripture. Nevertheless, the pure gospel is being articulated throughout the world so that error can be fully exposed.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. Ephesians 5:11
