We love Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19

Am I aiming my mental faculties toward the solid reality of God’s love for me? Even on my best day, my grasp of the depth of His love is lacking. My love for Him should not be static, but rather on a steady pattern of growth. Many will say that they know God loves them because they were taught about the love of God. But others, indeed many others, will say that they know nothing of God’s love, in spite of having been told. To understand that exercising my will to seek Him means that I will find Him is just the encouragement that I need!

You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

There is a mental starvation running rampant in the world today that should never be true among God’s children. Each of us are given the privilege of being “in charge” of our mind. But neglect of this great gift, central to being fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) is the foremost cause of spiritual weakness and drifting away from the Lord. The great war between good and evil consists of a series of battles for our minds. Neglect of God, by default, yields the mind to the will of the adversary.

It is up to me to turn my focus back where it belongs. This will enable me to hear what He is saying, rather than being at the mercy of my own impulses. The world is filled to the brim with idols, but the mental discipline of devotion to my Maker and Savior enables me to follow His lead, bringing me closer to “seeing with my heart” His love for me, and, thus, multiplying my love for Him. My vision for the future is illuminated with a vibrant hope.

“Look to Me and be saved. For I am God and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:22

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
