(part 2) When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59:19b
Daniel was given more detail regarding the identity of the enemy’s counterfeit system of deception that would arise during the last two thousand years of earth’s history. The fourth beast of Daniel 7, identified by historians as “the iron monarchy of Rome”, would have a pagan beginning and subsequently step into an enormous religious role over the centuries.
He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law. Daniel 7:25a
“The Pope has the power to change times, to abrogate laws, and to dispense with all things, even the precepts of Christ.” (Decretal, de Tranlatic Episcop)
While he may intend to change times and law he cannot actually alter what is eternal and unchanging. The Lord Jesus can be totally relied upon because of His immutability. His covenant law remains the most sublime and concise law in existence. The standard to be lifted against the enemy is the law of liberty (James 1:25; 2:12), a flawless standard of judgement.
Beloved, let us not be carried away by the flood (see Revelation 12:15). Our love for Christ Jesus is only a faint reflection of His love for us. We have much room to grow. Submitting your all to Him will only deepen your relationship with Him and improve your relationships with fellow humans. He comes to cleanse thoughts, words, and actions. The more you learn of Him, the more you will yield access to Him regarding your ways, that they may be refined and purified. You will be amazed and delighted at what He is able to accomplish in you. And love will grow . . .
So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. James 2:12
For the love of Christ compels us . . . that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. 2 Corinthians 5:14a,15b
If you love Me, keep My commandments. John 14:15
