“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” Genesis 3:15 (KJV)
Beloved, this enmity is a gift from God. Since the fall of man, our natural inclination is to be in alignment with Satan. Apostasy is the very trait from which evil comes into existence. In man’s sinful state there is no natural enmity toward the instigator of sin. Apart from God’s intervention, we had no possibility of learning of our choice to realign our lives with God.
Satan’s animosity toward Heaven is intensified by the love and mercy of God toward mankind. There is no rest for him; only a driving, desperate motivation to induce others to join him by following his rebellious example. Thwarting the divine plan of redemption is the focus of his efforts. This is why God’s word is laid out in such a way as to reveal His own loving character and also expose the evil intentions and deceptive manner of the adversary.
Thank God for the grace that assists human hearts to cherish enmity against the deceiver. This gift of grace is implanted in the soul by Jesus Himself and nourished as the believer bathes his mind in the word of God. For this reason, Satan will provide endless excuses for the believer to avoid time in the word. Otherwise, his devices to deprave human nature would be deflected by the believer’s discernment, and the believer would be enabled to resist his power.
Calvary’s cross finalized the expulsion of Satan from Heaven (Revelation 12:10), but he is still bringing woe to the earth (v.12). Jesus is coming soon, and we must joyfully be about His Father’s business of teaching, spreading, and sharing the best news ever!
And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. Romans 16:20
And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 12:17
