“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:37,40
“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:44
The drawing power of God is His love. “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” (Jeremiah 31:3). Peter reminds us that God is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9). The Lord makes His appeal through all of our senses. Creation itself is a witness, as King David reminds us in Psalm 19: The heavens declare the glory of God . . . This chapter in the Psalms, as well as our opening verse allude to the beautiful wedding theme woven throughout the Scriptures. It is the father who gives the bride to the groom. After the last day of this earth’s history there will come an endless, sinless eternity. This new beginning will be punctuated by a wedding feast, the joys of which we can scarcely imagine!
Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. Revelation 19:7 (see also Matthew 22:2)
The question comes to mind: how is it that any will fail to be at the marriage supper of the Lamb, for He says He will by no means cast out one who comes to Him? The words of Paul to the unbelieving Jews shed light upon the answer: “It was necessary that the Word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.” Acts 13:46
Our loving God exercises His omnipotent power of divine restraint in that He will never override the personal choices of the individual. The Word of God will always lead the believing one heavenward. But unbelief opens the heart of an individual to accept the seeds which Satan is sowing. Unbelief will always find an excuse for doubt and disobedience of divine instructions. The prophecy of Isaiah 4:1 is a vision illustrating the extensive nature—among those who name the name of Jesus!—of the broadcasting of Satan’s seed. Contrast it with these words from the prayer of Jesus:
“I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.” John 17:6
