September 11: EXPECT
See it:
Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but You. Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to You and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:2-3 (NLT)
Obey it:
What can we learn from these verses today?
1. We are in desperate need of help and there is only One who can help. God, our Creator and King is waiting for us to bring our problems to Him. When you see the state of our communities and our world, you may despair. But when you look up, you can have hope.
2. We need daily, consistent prayer. Not only is it important to come to God in prayer, we also need to make it a daily matter. As we spend time each day with God, we come to realize how much He really loves us and wants to help us with the difficulties we face in life. We learn to trust Him as our closest friend, and we look forward to and cherish each moment we spend with Him. Prayer is a great way to find out from God who we can help today.
3. We should expect that He will answer our earnest petitions. God is sympathetic toward our trials and concerns. He is able to help us to deal with and gain solutions to our problems, because He is a God of power. Without wavering, we should believe He will answer our prayers and fulfill our requests as long as we are in His will and are willing to obey Him. We are to expect good things from God. The Christian life is an expectant life. Our greatest expectation is the soon second coming of Christ when the culmination of all our expectations will be realized. In this hope, we can go and serve others.

My prayer today:
I pray that people realize that there is a God in heaven who answers prayer. I pray that others will see how we as Christians live in joyful expectation. I pray that others will come to know God as a loving Savior and a Friend who wants to answer their requests when they pray. Amen.
