Now about the middle of the feast [of Tabernacles] Jesus went up into the temple and taught. And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?” Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me.” John 7:14-16

Today so many in Christendom are downgrading the idea of Biblical doctrine, saying, “Doctrine doesn’t matter. All that matters is love.” The teachings of the Bible constitute correct doctrine: teachings that transform lives and save souls. The love of God is the central theme of true, Biblical doctrine. God’s love is broader, higher, and deeper than sinful man’s jaded conception of love. God knew (prophetically) before the beginning that fuzzy false doctrines would come into being. “An enemy has done this.” (Matthew 13:28)

“If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.” John 7:17

In the last book of His word, false doctrines are called the wine of Babylon because of the spiritual confusion that results from believing false doctrine. Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. Revelation 14:8

All nations. The vast majority in Christendom have become confused on even the most basic issues of life and death. The devil’s denial of death’s reality (Genesis 3:4) is the cornerstone of nearly every false teaching. But God has always preserved a remnant that embraces His word—all of it! Being a part of the remnant and helping others to do the same should be the goal of every individual. Here are three consistent concepts that can aid anyone who desires to take their stand with Jesus: on the side of eternal light and life:

*A love for God and His word, His teachings which are correct doctrines (compare to 2 Thessalonians 2:10).

*And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 12:17

*Worship God (see Revelation 14:7) above all. And I fell at [the angel’s] feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Revelation 19:10
